Swartbooi Questions N12.8 Billion Dev Budget

Bernadus Swartbooi from the Landless People's Movement asked why our country spent just N$12.8 billion on building things. He talked at his party meeting last Saturday in Windhoek. Our nation needs at least N$25 billion for real growth, he said. The current money falls way short of what helps citizens find work.

Swartbooi believes we should put N$30 billion toward making new things instead of just N$12.8 billion from the big N$106 billion budget. The finance boss, Ericah Shafudah, brought this plan to lawmakers recently. Her budget includes N$200 million for two sports fields and another N$200 million for basic needs like roads and water pipes.

The party leader slammed the government's attempts to fix job problems. He does not think hiring more cops and soldiers is a real answer to helping people without jobs. These jobs just cost money without making the country better or stronger for everyone else. Putting cash into building programs makes more sense.

Swartbooi explained that construction projects create many different jobs for regular people. Money spent on building schools, roads, and houses helps more than just the workers. It makes life better for all the people around them. Vocational training centers teach skills that last forever. The money spent comes back many times through what these workers build and fix every day.

He stressed that government leaders must change how they spend our tax money. Building things brings lasting value, unlike just paying more government workers. When we build real things, the money stays here and helps many families earn bread. Better streets, homes, and water systems will make life easier for everyone across Namibia for many years to come.
