Tamale Tech Exhibition Shakes Up Eco Textile Scene

Students showed off their fabric designs at Tamale Technical University for the first time. The Textile Designs and Technology Department organized the event at their building. Many people came to see student work, learn about classes, and find business ideas.

Students shared batik fabrics made from local materials with earth-friendly dyes. One display featured clothes made from plastic waste. Dr. Aziz Danaa runs the department and praises students for their hard work. The event helped students talk with industry experts and get feedback.

Hajia Dr. Fatima Ibrahim teaches there and mentioned how textiles became more popular during COVID. The program teaches many skills like crocheting, embroidery, tie-dye, and weaving. The department needs better machines, equipment, and workspaces. They started with a few students in 2021 but now have about 200, making them the fastest-growing department.
