Tangail Jubo League leader Shah Jony arrested at a brothel

Authorities captured Shah Jony during a brothel raid in Tangail district. The joint general secretary of the local Jubo League faces charges related to attacks against Anti-Discrimination Student Movement activists. Officer-in-Charge Tanvir Ahmed confirmed that police acted on intelligence information to make the arrest. Jony, son of Israfil from Akur Thakur Para, confronts multiple cases stemming from violent incidents. Court proceedings will commence Monday as he appears before Tangail magistrates.

Armed assailants targeted student movement members on August 4, 2024, at approximately 11 am in the Bottola neighborhood. Lal Mia sustained injuries during the gunfire attack and later sought legal recourse. The Chinamura village resident from Kalihati filed formal complaints against 230 identified individuals and up to 200 unidentified perpetrators. District Awami League leadership appears among the named defendants in the comprehensive case. Prosecutors list Jony as the 41st defendant in these criminal proceedings.
