Tata-AIRBUS H125 to rain choppers on Vemagal

Tata Advanced Systems Limited will deliver India's first domestically assembled Airbus H125 helicopter in early 2027 from its Karnataka facility in Vemagal. The aircraft will serve civil operations, paramilitary forces and Indian armed services requiring light utility rotorcraft for Himalayan deployment. Airbus India president Jurgen Westermeier said the partnership positions helicopters as essential infrastructure tools while developing South Asian markets.

The factory represents India's first private-sector helicopter assembly line and marks the second collaboration between Tata and Airbus for domestic production. Chief executive Sukaran Singh stated the company can manufacture both fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft to meet national requirements. Applications span emergency medical transport, disaster response, tourism and law enforcement sectors. Plans call for exporting the H125M military variant with domestically sourced components throughout the South Asian region.
