TCN tower 7 collapses in Rigasa, Ndidi Mbah warns of outage

Electrical infrastructure failures have disrupted power distribution across several neighborhoods in Kaduna state. Transmission Company of Nigeria officials confirmed that Tower Number 7 collapsed along transmission routes serving the Rigasa area within the Igabi Local Government. Weather conditions contributed to the structural failure when severe storms and heavy rainfall struck the region. Vandals had previously stolen essential tower components, weakening the infrastructure and increasing its vulnerability to weather damage. TCN spokesman Ndidi Mbah reported that power distribution to multiple load centers ceased after the incident.

The collapse severed bulk electricity transmission to various distribution points that serve Kaduna South communities. Thousands of residential and commercial customers lost electrical service when the tower fell across major transmission lines. TCN engineers discovered missing structural elements during site inspections, confirming that theft preceded the weather-related collapse. The company directed Kaduna Electric to establish alternative connections between existing feeders to restore partial service. Areas such as Kinkinau, Yan Tukwane, Kabala West, Unguwan Muazu, and Kaduna North maintained normal electrical supply throughout the disruption.
