TECNO kicks off Future Star hunt with CAF

Their phone company sponsorship just leveled up to scout young soccer talent. TECNO, a global partner for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, has launched a new program called Future Star of Africa, expanding its existing DreamOnTheField charity project. The initiative, announced with CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba and legends like Yaya Touré present, aims to find promising players between twelve and fifteen years old across the continent, offering development support until they turn eighteen.

This talent search builds directly on TECNO’s ongoing pitch renovation drive, which has already finished eight fields with seven more underway, targeting one hundred total. CAF will manage the scouting process using technical experts and local jury panels in each country to evaluate kids on skills from ball control to leadership, with selections staying within national borders. Company executive Jack Guo framed it as providing the opportunity for talent to shine, complementing the physical stages they are building with the field projects.

The move shifts the partnership beyond pure infrastructure into sustained youth investment, attempting to fill a known gap in nurturing young athletes. CAF Commercial Director Hassan Elkamah called it building foundations for dreams, while Mosengo-Omba highlighted investing in the boys and girls who will carry African football forward. The holistic approach ties field renovations with a long-term talent pathway, positioning the brand as a deeper stakeholder in the sport's future across Africa.
