Residents of Nguru community in Enugu State are fighting to protect their farmland from government bulldozers. The machines appeared without warning and began destroying crops that families depend on for food and income. Community leaders say no officials approached them about taking the land for development projects. Local youth have organized to guard the disputed property and prevent further destruction.
Youth President Ejiofor Ozioko accused unnamed individuals of hiding behind government authority to grab community land. He stressed that proper procedures require official meetings between state representatives and village leaders before any land acquisition. The bulldozers have already ruined valuable pepper, tomato and garden egg crops that support many families. Community members vow to continue their resistance until officials follow legal processes.
Traditional Ruler Igwe Linus Obayi confirmed that no government representatives contacted him about the land seizure. He praised the young people for standing together to defend community property. An anonymous resident described the situation as an attack on ancestral lands that belong to the oldest clan in Nsukka town. The community has previously donated land for schools and public facilities but opposes this unauthorized development.

He blamed the conflict on poor communication and explained that workers only needed access roads to reach a different development site.
