Three Crowns opens Dubai arbitration hub

A big law firm sets up shop in Dubai, calling it essential for their global chess game. Arbitration boutique Three Crowns is planting a flag in the Dubai International Financial Centre. They frame it as a logical step for handling cross-border disputes where serious money flows. The office will be led by a managing partner who has been with them since their launch over a decade ago.

He stated the region is a key hub for investment and, therefore, for high-stakes arbitration work. The new base aims to support clients across the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa. It links to their existing offices in cities like London and Singapore. A few other partners will split time there, bringing regional experience from prior firms.

One lawyer previously worked at a magic circle firm in Dubai for around six years. A second focuses on construction and infrastructure arguments. The firm mentioned extra support staff with Arabic language skills and local connections. Their executive partner called it reinforcing a commitment to clients with multi-jurisdictional headaches.

This follows a trend of additional UK firms expanding into the Gulf late last year. One established presence in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi last month. A separate firm opened its first non-London office in Abu Dhabi around the same time. The legal industry clearly sees the region as a growth market for complex, expensive disputes.

It is a straightforward biz dev play wrapped in professional jargon. They need a physical address to chase the lucrative work flowing through those skyscrapers. The announcement serves as both a client memo and a recruitment flex. Everyone in that niche is scrambling for a piece.
