Thunderobot drops Hygon C86 PCs, China finally flexes x86

Chinese gaming PC maker Thunderobot dropped its first systems running Hygon C86 processors at some esports event instead of going with AMD or Intel chips. The 16-core CPUs have 32 threads with 32 MB cache and work with DDR5 memory plus PCIe 5.0 slots using a dual chiplet setup where each die packs 8 cores.

Benchmark tests put the C86 somewhere between older Intel Core i7-13700 and i7-14700 chips for raw power. The demo rigs ran Black Myth Wukong at decent framerates but nobody mentioned what graphics card was handling the load. Since these processors work with x86 architecture, they run Windows and regular games without compatibility issues as China pushes more domestic silicon into its local market.
