Tofail Ahmed circling the drain at Square Hospital

Square Hospital placed Tofail Ahmed on life support as his medical condition deteriorated on Sunday. The former commerce minister and Awami League Advisory Council member faces serious health challenges, according to family sources who spoke with reporters. Ahmed requires intensive medical intervention after years of managing stroke-related complications that left portions of his body paralyzed.

The veteran politician has represented Bangladesh's National Parliament nine times throughout his career. Bhola-1 constituency voters most recently elected him to serve their interests in the legislative body. Ahmed maintained a prominent role within the Bangladesh Awami League presidium for decades before his current hospitalization.
