Two church thieves just got convicted after targeting multiple congregations. A Harare magistrate found Glory Choto and Violet Jaure guilty on three theft counts, citing overwhelming evidence. The unemployed women from Chitungwiza stole from attendees at various churches in the Dzivarasekwa area.
Their crimes included taking a laptop bag from the Apostolic Faith Mission. The bag held a Lenovo mini laptop, a power bank, financial books, and a flash disk. The army employee owner had stepped outside briefly during the service. The pair also stole items from a car parked outside a Methodist church.
They took a dress, a jersey, a headscarf, and baby wipes from that vehicle. The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority employee was inside attending to service. Suspicious church members searched the women and found the stolen goods. This discovery led directly to their arrest by authorities.
Sentencing for both convicted women is expected shortly. The state prosecutor successfully argued the case with physical exhibits linking them to the thefts. The magistrate ruled the evidence proved their guilt beyond any reasonable doubt.
