The United Arab Emirates delivered bicycles and school furniture to two institutions in Hwange District on Saturday as part of donations channeled through First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa for underserved areas. Matetsi Secondary School received more than 200 bicycles, and Chinotimba Primary School obtained over 300 furniture sets, 10 writing boards, and one television.
Students who previously walked long distances expressed relief that the bicycles would provide additional study time. School administrators predicted the equipment would boost enrollment and academic performance at both facilities. Matetsi Secondary School Headmistress Thandekile Dimbira said attendance would increase among learners who had previously avoided school due to travel hardships.
UAE Deputy Ambassador Rashed Al Shamsi pledged continued support for educational facilities in Victoria Falls. Chinotimba Primary School has served more than 1,000 students since its establishment in 1940, and Matetsi Secondary School enrolled nearly 300 learners after opening in 2012.
