Uganda Communications Commission held a breakfast meeting to thank supporters of the recent Uganda Film Festival. The 12th festival edition attracted more than 30,000 people during its May 26 to June 6 run. Officials praised sponsors and partners who helped make the event successful. Director Julianne Mweheire said the festival required teamwork from many groups. Executive Director Nyombi Thembo announced the strong attendance numbers at the gathering.
The festival featured training programs, workshops, film showings and award ceremonies across Uganda. Participants learned new skills and showcased their creative work during the two-week event. Veteran filmmaker Mariam Ndagire received recognition for her contributions to the industry. She said the festival helps new filmmakers start their careers.
