Uganda army plants Lt. Col. Hatangimana at NEC as Buryomunda exits

Lt. Col. Benon Hatangimana assumed command as the military assistant to Managing Director Lt. Gen. James Mugira at the National Enterprise Corporation during ceremonies at the Bugolobi headquarters. Deputy Managing Director Rtd. Maj. Gen. Innocent Oula oversaw the leadership transition within the Uganda People's Defence Forces' commercial operations. Col. Elvis Buryomunda departed the position to lead counter-intelligence operations under Defence Intelligence and Security. Gen. Oula praised Buryomunda's service record while welcoming Hatangimana to the military business enterprise. The ceremony marked continued collaboration between NEC and defense intelligence services.

Parliament established the National Enterprise Corporation in 1989 as the commercial branch of the Ministry of Defence and the Uganda People's Defence Forces. The corporation operates through subsidiaries and joint ventures across various sectors, including construction, engineering, agriculture, and manufacturing. Services span from bulletproof equipment production to cattle breeding programs for Ugandan farmers. Lt. Col. Hatangimana pledged collaborative leadership as he accepted his new assignment. The transition ensures seamless operations within the military's diverse business portfolio.
