Uganda NRM youth polls hit fever pitch as Todwong warns

Uganda's National Resistance Movement has set Thursday, September 18, 2025, as the date for Youth and Entrepreneurs Leagues National Executive elections. The Central Executive Committee made this decision during their meeting at State House, Entebbe, on September 13. Secretary General Richard Todwong announced the directive through an official circular. The party will also select flag bearers for parliamentary youth representatives during these polls. District headquarters across all 151 NRM regions will host the voting process.

Delegates must arrive by 9:00 a.m. and cast ballots by standing behind their preferred candidates. Party officials received strict instructions to maintain order and prevent interference during the electoral process. The National Treasurer will distribute financial guidelines for participant compensation separately. Eligible voters encompass various party representatives from youth and entrepreneur leagues at different administrative levels. These postponed elections carry significant weight as a measure of internal democratic processes before the 2026 general elections approach.
