Uganda will host Africa's first Triple Elimination Conference from July 21-23, 2025, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala. The event targets the elimination of HIV, Hepatitis B, and Syphilis through coordinated continental efforts. Policymakers, health professionals, researchers, and community advocates from across Africa will participate in this regional gathering. The African Union Commission, Uganda's Ministry of Health, Africa CDC, WHO, UNICEF, and UNAIDS have formed a coalition to convene the conference. The National Organisation for People Living with Hepatitis B leads the planning and coordination efforts.
Kenneth Kabagambe from NOPLHB describes the conference as uniting science, policy, and lived experience to end these diseases. Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng emphasizes Uganda's commitment to eliminating these conditions from communities. The conference aligns with WHO's 2030 disease elimination targets and the African Union's Agenda 2063. Abbott and SD BIOSENSOR provide support as global leaders in diagnostics and health technologies. The event addresses critical gaps in diagnosis, treatment, and maternal health services across African nations.
