UK doctor duped out of $2.7k by vet worker in cattle scam

A Zimbabwean doctor living in Britain says a veterinary worker stole nearly three thousand dollars from him. Tony Muchekesi claims Perseverance Gambiza tricked him during a fake cattle purchase agreement. The woman works as a cleaner at Veterinary Services but promotes herself as a cattle dealer on social media. She uses the business name Duchess Dutchess to advertise her supposed livestock sales. Police arrested Gambiza after Muchekesi filed fraud charges against her.

The scam began when Gambiza convinced the doctor to send money for cattle that never existed. Muchekesi sent seven hundred dollars as a down payment through Mukuru money transfer services. He paid the remaining balance the next day as requested. The suspect stopped responding to his messages and avoided all contact afterward. Muchekesi discovered she actually worked as a cleaning person at the veterinary office.

Court proceedings faced delays when prosecutors needed additional evidence to support their case. The Marondera Magistrate Court postponed the trial to gather Mukuru transfer documents. These records prove Gambiza received the money despite her current denials. Police assigned case number CR39/06/25 to investigate the alleged fraud. Authorities released the pregnant suspect without holding her in custody.

The investigating officer completed case preparations using banking evidence from the money transfer company. Muchekesi learned that Gambiza specifically targets people living outside Zimbabwe. The doctor trusted her claims about working in the veterinary field. Police advised him that she had previously targeted other diaspora victims. The completed investigation file awaits court scheduling for the criminal proceedings.
