A village leader from Mushumbi Pools got tossed in remand after cops busted him for allegedly running a cattle-theft ring. Isaac Svinugwa, who's 45, got arrested alongside three other guys when one of them ratted him out as the mastermind behind multiple stock-theft incidents around the area.
The crew apparently jacked cattle from two locals back in November and chopped up the animals to sell meat at butcheries. Police spokesperson Lucy Chigwenhese confirmed the arrests of Svinugwa, Lyod Marovha, Knowledge Nhete, and Herbert Gatsi while telling farmers to brand their livestock and keep animals penned at night to avoid getting robbed. Authorities are pushing for people to adopt tracking tech like geo-fencing systems that ping owners when cattle wander past set boundaries.
