UNESCO Training on Medical and E-Waste

Workshop Teaches How to Handle Medical Waste.

The National Commission for UNESCO of The Gambia held a workshop on Tuesday at NANA Hall. The workshop taught people how to deal with medical and electronic waste.

Medical waste comes from places that provide health care. It can include needles, blood, body parts, and chemicals. Most of it is like regular trash, but some can make people sick.

Lamin Jarjue works for UNESCO. He said it is important to teach people about waste. It helps keep the world clean and keeps people healthy.

Electronic waste is also a big problem. More and more is produced each year. Ousman Bah said teachers should share what they learn and teach children how to take care of the world.

The Gambia has a lot of electronic waste. Some of it is made there, and some come from other places. People also try to reuse old electronics, but this can be dangerous if not done right.

The workshop wanted to find good ways to handle all this waste. They want to make the world a better place to live and keep people safe and healthy.

Everyone needs to work together on this. The government needs to make good rules, and people need to do their part. Together, we can make a difference.
