Tragedy struck the University of Lagos community when Faculty of Education President Balogun Damilola lost his life at a Lagos beach. The incident happened on Saturday when powerful ocean currents dragged the student leader underwater while he performed acrobatics for a video recording. Rescue attempts proved unsuccessful as waves prevented immediate recovery efforts. Search teams located his remains the next day at Museyo Beach in Ibeju-Lekki, approximately two kilometers from the accident site. The victim, who went by the nickname Ayanfe Eledumare, had recently taken leadership of his faculty after serving as deputy the previous academic year.
