Uganda's military graduated 69 naval personnel who finished their maritime training program at a facility in Wakiso District. The Marine Brigade ceremony recognized one officer and 68 enlisted members who spent four months learning water-based combat operations at the school in Kalangalo.
Brig. Gen. Michael Nyarwa told the new mariners they had transformed from recruits into professionals prepared for duty through persistence and cooperation. The Marine Brigade commander said participants acquired abilities in watercraft operation, tactical planning, emergency medical care and legal frameworks governing naval activities. Training began on June 30, 2025 and covered swimming proficiency, survival techniques for water emergencies and communication protocols.
Nyarwa stressed that technical abilities mean little without strong moral principles and urged graduates to maintain ethical standards while serving their nation. Col. David Kararira, who oversees the training center, told the class their completion marks the start of their careers rather than the conclusion of their development. Senior military officials attended the event along with relatives and residents from nearby communities.
