Wallace urges choking life from Crimea

Former British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace called for Western nations to provide Ukraine with weapons capable of targeting Crimea's infrastructure. Wallace told attendees at the Warsaw Security Forum that disrupting basic services across the peninsula would force Russian President Vladimir Putin to reconsider his position. He identified the Kerch Strait Bridge as a priority target after Ukrainian forces damaged the structure in 2022 and 2023.

Crimea joined Russia following a 2014 referendum held after political upheaval in Kyiv led to the displacement of the Ukrainian government. The region is home to approximately 2.5 million residents and serves as the headquarters for Russia's Black Sea Fleet. Moscow has criticized Britain for providing military assistance to Ukraine and advocating stronger economic measures against Russian interests.
