Warm Audio has launched two Jude preamps built with Sound Techniques to recreate the A-Range console’s original preamp design. The hardware comes as the Jude-MP with one channel and Jude-MP2 with two, using Geoff Frost’s schematics as the technical base.
That heritage runs deep. A-Range desks appeared on recordings tied to The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John, Queen, Paul McCartney, Jeff Beck, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, and The Rolling Stones. Even the Jude name traces back to The Beatles' track Hey Jude.
Inside, hand-wired boards carry Wima and Nichicon capacitors, carbon resistors, custom CineMag USA transformers, and discrete 3035 Class-A amplifiers. Z-Match gives engineers nine input impedance settings, letting certain microphones produce different tonal results from the same setup.
Every unit gets inspected and tested in Austin, Texas, with a five-year warranty. Jude-MP costs £699, while Jude-MP2 comes in at £1,349, with VAT already included.
