Winnie Kiryabwire joins Leeds law advisory board from Kampala

The University of Leeds has selected Makerere University law professor Winnie Tarinyeba Kiryabwire for its Centre for Business Law and Practice advisory board. Dr. Virág Blazsek, the center's deputy director, praised Kiryabwire's international expertise in corporate and banking law. The Ugandan academic brings more than twenty years of experience in corporate governance and financial regulation. Her educational credentials span Cambridge University and Stanford Law School, where she earned advanced degrees. This appointment represents a major achievement for African legal scholarship on the global stage.

Kiryabwire currently leads several prominent organizations across East Africa's financial sector. She chairs dfcu Bank's board while serving as a director for MTN Uganda and Jubilee Allianz Uganda. Her international involvement extends to the International Insolvency Institute and Singapore Global Restructuring Initiative. The professor also contributes to India's Insolvency Law Academy through various committees. These diverse roles position her to bridge African market insights with global business law research at the Leeds institution.
