Wuilt's Rostom nets $2M from Flat6Labs after free platform pivot

Egyptian e-commerce platform Wuilt secured $2 million from investors led by Flat6Labs and MTF VC. Hub71, JIMCO, Purity Tech, and angel investors also contributed to the funding round. The Cairo-based company made its core platform completely free across Egypt during April 2025. This strategic shift eliminated subscription fees and attracted over 20,000 merchants to the service. Founders Ahmed Rostom and Mahmoud Metwaly established the business in 2019.

The platform generates revenue through value-added services like Wuilt Shipments, Wuilt Pay, and Wuilt Wallet rather than subscription models. Wuilt will launch its free platform across the UAE during the fourth quarter of 2025. The company plans further expansion into GCC countries and Turkey by early 2026. Management aims to develop artificial intelligence features that help merchants manage and scale their operations. The platform seeks to become essential infrastructure for small businesses and social sellers throughout emerging markets.
