Yangon port customs ramps up inspections to speed trade at Asia World terminals

Myanmar customs officials work around the clock to accelerate trade processing at Yangon's major shipping facilities. The Planning and Finance Ministry announced these improvements on July 16, targeting faster cargo movement through international terminals. Authorities established continuous inspection schedules to prevent commercial bottlenecks and maintain steady merchandise flow.

Asia World Port operates under constant surveillance with rotating staff teams since March 2024. Three separate work groups handle export container examinations throughout each day. Standard port facilities maintain inspection windows from morning until evening hours to maximize operational efficiency.

Government representatives contacted the Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce about updated clearance timelines. Business organizations received instructions to communicate new processing schedules to member companies. These administrative changes aim to strengthen Myanmar's position as a regional trading hub while reducing delays for international commerce.
