Presidential advisor Inge Zaamwani-Kamwi might become the next agriculture, fisheries, water, and land reform minister after Mac Hengari lost his job. Sources tell The Namibian that Zaamwani-Kamwi, who advises on constitutional affairs and private sector matters, stands ready to replace Hengari. She previously led Namdeb Holdings as chief executive.
Zaamwani-Kamwi told reporters Monday she knew nothing about this possible appointment. She said she remains just an advisor during the current transition period. She added she had not received any offer for the minister role and plans to retire when new staff arrive at the presidential office.
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah fired Hengari last week following his arrest. He faces serious criminal charges such as rape, kidnapping, and abortion. Police also accuse him of trying to pay off a young woman to drop rape accusations from when she was underage. Authorities continue their investigation into these allegations against the former minister.
