A guy from Bangladesh got hit with federal charges for running websites that sold fake IDs to criminals. The US Attorney's Office in Montana unsealed an indictment against twenty-nine-year-old Zahid Hasan from Dhaka. He operated online shops called TechTreek and EGiftCardStoreBD, allegedly selling digital templates for forged US passports, Social Security cards, and Montana driver's licenses from at least 2021 onward. Authorities seized three domains linked to the scheme.
Prosecutors say cybercriminals used these documents to open bogus accounts with banks, social media platforms, and crypto services. Customers paid with Bitcoin, with a passport template going for around twelve dollars. Hasan reportedly made over two point nine million dollars through TechTreek alone, serving more than fourteen hundred global customers. The indictment includes a specific transaction from May this year, where he supposedly sent fake document templates to someone in Bozeman, Montana.
He faces nine counts, including transferring false identification documents and Social Security fraud. Each main count carries a possible fifteen-year prison sentence plus fines. The case is being handled by the FBI's offices in Billings and Salt Lake City, with help from police in Dhaka. Officials stressed the charges are just allegations and Hasan remains innocent until proven guilty in court.
