Zanu-PF touts Mutare summit as housing, water, health PR fest

Zimbabwe has made substantial progress in housing under its 2021 National Human Settlements Policy, surpassing the initial target of 220,000 units with nearly one million homes and residential plots completed. The government demolished colonial-era structures in Mbare, Makokoba, and Sakubva while constructing modern facilities, such as Marimba flats for medical staff, and developing smart city projects, including Melfort. Educational reforms through the Heritage-Based 5.0 Model established innovation hubs at universities producing pharmaceutical goods and engineering solutions alongside expanded digital learning infrastructure in primary and secondary schools.

Healthcare advances delivered thousands of road and air ambulances while devolution funds built clinics and hospitals across provinces with major upgrades to central facilities in Harare and Bulawayo. The Presidential Borehole Drilling Programme installed thousands of water points at villages, schools, and clinics through partnerships between the Zimbabwe National Water Authority and the District Development Fund. Social safety nets provided cash transfers and food assistance to elderly citizens, persons with disabilities, and child-headed households during economic challenges and drought periods, while sports facilities and community centers supported youth development initiatives.
