Zanzibar's VP Hails Private Sector for Driving Social Change

Zanzibar Seeks Private Aid for Public Services.

Zanzibar's Second Vice President, Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, pledged support for private groups helping citizens. He spoke Thursday at a birthday event for President Samia Suluhu Hassan in South Unguja.

The celebration featured the Mwanamke Initiative Foundation (MIF), which fights poverty and illness. The group promotes education for women and children.

"Private groups like MIF bring vital help in education, health, and business growth," Abdulla said. He praised their work helping women build financial freedom.

The event began with fitness activities and blood donations for mothers, children, and crash victims. Abdulla asked citizens to keep the peace, calling it the key to growth.

Health Minister Riziki Pembe Juma praised MIF's work to boost women's incomes and reduce the number of deaths among new mothers.

MIF leader Wanu Hafidh Ameir, President Hassan's daughter, led a health walk to fight lifestyle illness. "We reach Tanzanians everywhere with tools to beat poverty and disease," she said.

The group donated four ambulances to hospitals in Unguja and Pemba and 50 wheelchairs to disabled people.

The event showed how public and private groups can collaborate to help Zanzibar grow and better serve its people.
