ZIFA puts Premier Soccer League clubs on notice over match-fixing

ZIFA has put Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clubs on alert over match-fixing, with a clear message that rigged games have no place in Zimbabwean football. Club bosses must keep their teams in check and make sure nobody tries to mess with results.

And this isn't just about what players do during games. Coaches, team staff, and club officials all fall under the same rules. Anyone who acts on behalf of a club has a duty to play fair.

In a notice sent to league governors, the Zimbabwe Football Association made its stance clear. Bribery, fixed results, and shady conduct won't be tolerated. The goal is to maintain fans' trust and ensure league games remain fair.

Club leaders have a lot on their plate here. They must watch for foul play, set high standards, and ensure their teams follow the rules set by ZIFA, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and FIFA.

But the duty doesn't stop with club bosses. Everyone tied to the sport has a part to play, from those who run the teams to those who take the field. Fair play can't just be a rule on paper.

As for match results, ZIFA wants skill and effort to settle the score. Not secret deals or corrupt acts that give one side an unfair edge.

The association also gave clubs credit for their support in keeping the sport clean. Its wider point was simple. Fans need to trust that every league fixture offers a fair contest, with the players deciding who wins.
