Zim MPs land top APU roles

Zimbabwe's parliamentary influence across Africa strengthened as two senior legislators secured top positions within the African Parliamentary Union during meetings held in Kinshasa. Senate President Mabel Chinomona gained appointment as Vice Chairperson of the Executive Committee, while Deputy Speaker Tsitsi Gezi became Southern Africa Regional Representative.

Parliament officials described both selections as proof of the nation's expanding diplomatic reach and effective foreign relations strategy. The advancement follows similar successes, with Chief Fortune Charumbira currently leading the Pan African Parliament and the country pursuing a Security Council seat spanning 2027 through 2028.

President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa's approach of maintaining universal friendships without adversaries has anchored these international achievements for Harare's representatives.
