Zimbabwe’s Falcon Air takes off with its first flight

A new Zimbabwean airline, RIDA Falcon Air, has initiated a weekly flight service connecting Harare to Beitbridge. Its inaugural flight, carrying a delegation of senior government and customs officials, completed the journey in approximately ninety minutes. This new air link offers a significantly faster alternative to a road trip that often requires more than six hours of travel.

The delegation included figures such as Dr. Michael Musanjika and RIDA director general Mr. Christopher Shumba. Upon landing in Beitbridge, they were welcomed by local officials, including the Provincial Secretary, Ms. Latiso Dlamini-Maseko. The airline’s management anticipates the route will enhance economic activity and streamline travel for business and trade.

This service is expected to improve connectivity between the capital and the major border post, potentially boosting regional trade and tourism. The introduction of a regular air service represents a strategic development for transport infrastructure in the country’s southern region.
