Zimbabwe backs Bravura mining projects promising jobs, platinum growth

A Pan-African mining company called Bravura received strong backing from Zimbabwe's government for its platinum projects. Minister Marian Chombo from Mashonaland West province promised full support during a meeting with company officials and local leaders. The company plans to explore platinum deposits in two districts called Chegutu and Zvimba. Bravura also wants to mine lithium in Kamativi and hopes to start operations before the year ends. The firm has additional plans to extract iron ore from Manhize area.

Chombo told attendees at the Chinhoyi meeting that President Mnangagwa's administration welcomes foreign investment. She said her office will help investors succeed in the province. The minister believes Bravura's operations will create many jobs for young people in the region. She expects platinum production to increase significantly and bring more money to the area. Chombo stressed that mining companies must help local communities through social programs.

Bravura's top manager Ojo Ologuson Bhenga confirmed the company will build processing plants and conduct underground drilling. He promised the firm will hire mostly local workers for all positions. The company already employs local people for 95 percent of its jobs across Africa. Bhenga said Bravura operates in 14 African countries and understands what African communities need. The company has purchased drilling equipment and set aside money to relocate families affected by mining activities.
