Zimbabwe hikes horticulture minimum wage to US$99

Backdated pay bumps just landed for Zimbabwe's horticulture workers, and the new minimums kick in from May 2025.

New minimum-wage breakdown
  • The lowest grade A1 climbed from US$94 to US$99 monthly.
  • Top-tier C2 jumped from US$186 to US$196.
  • Other grades got bumps between US$5 and US$10.
  • Statutory Instrument 48 of 2026 made it official.
How the payment structure works
  • Eighty percent gets paid in US dollars.
  • The remaining twenty percent converts to ZiG at interbank rates.
  • Employers with capacity can pay fully in USD.
  • Wages are backdated to May 1, 2025.
Allowances and extra perks
  • Accommodation allowance rose from US$38 to US$42.
  • Fuel bumped to US$13 and light to US$9.
  • Dog or firearm handlers score an extra 5% monthly.
  • Employers still cover transport, travel, and subsistence costs.
