Zimbabwe launches landmark book on anti-sanctions resistance

A new 262-page book documenting Zimbabwe's response to Western economic measures was released on Sunday at Heritage Village in Harare as part of regional anti-sanctions commemorations. University of Zimbabwe Vice-Chancellor Paul Mapfumo and two co-editors compiled contributions from 20 scholars examining the effects of sanctions on citizens and African sovereignty.

The publication traces historical patterns of restrictive measures and analyzes United Nations reports on their consequences. Richard Mahomva from the Ministry of Information said the work represents five years of research by academics and political analysts examining policy changes under President Emmerson Mnangagwa's administration.

Mapfumo stated that the chapters document how human rights arguments are sometimes used to prevent African governments from controlling natural resources. President Mnangagwa told attendees that Zimbabwe must present its perspective grounded in liberation history and post-independence experience rather than external narratives.
