Zimbabwe Watchdog Calls Out Shady PVO Law Mixup

A legal group says Zimbabwe published the wrong law about non-profit groups. Veritas found major problems between what lawmakers approved and what appeared in official records on April 11. The government called it Act 1 of 2025 to control how non-governmental organizations operate. Parliament never discussed parts of the published version.

The legal experts claim this makes the entire law invalid because it fails to represent what legislators actually voted for. They spotted several differences that change how the law works. The published version added new sections at the beginning that no senator ever saw. It also created a board structure that lawmakers had actually voted to remove. Registration rules for organizations differ between versions.
