ZIMCHE provisionally accredits KEMET, Global University of Inclusivity

Provisional approval just gave two proposed universities a green light to build their foundations, but they still cannot enroll a single student yet.

Provisional status granted by ZIMCHE

• The Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education approved two proposed institutions.
• KEMET University received provisional accreditation from 7 January 2026 to 6 January 2027.
• Global University of Inclusivity got the same temporary clearance.
• Authority cited the ZIMCHE Act, Chapter 25 27 Section 11.4.

What provisional accreditation allows

• Status lets the institutions form governing councils.
• Campuses can begin setting up facilities and academic resources.
• Proposed degree programs must be submitted for ZIMCHE review.
• A full accreditation application is required before expiry.

Limits are placed on the two universities

• Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education barred student recruitment under provisional status.
• Institutions cannot advertise unapproved programs.
• Legal registration depends on meeting all stipulated conditions.
• Failure to comply risks losing recognition.
