ZRP set to hit back at meddling political types

Officials said Zimbabwe police must crack down on political troublemakers blocking government progress. Presidential Affairs Permanent Secretary Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti told police leaders at Mkushi Academy that officers should reject political meddling when doing their jobs.

Muguti stressed that no person can enter a police station to block officers from their duties. He said the party forbids anyone from demanding suspect releases or asking for special treatment from police. Officers facing political pressure should report these issues to the State Minister.

Officials plan to help police fight complex crimes like money laundering through car dealers, fuel stations, and shops. Muguti believes criminals use new methods that require better police training. He emphasized that traffic law enforcement needs attention to restore order on roads.

The secretary blamed corruption for many problems, saying that bribe-taking creates lawlessness. Police commanders heard they must build systems promoting discipline among their teams. A better work culture would improve police effectiveness across communities.
