Zuma's daughter accuses sister of deadly Russia war recruitment

Nkosazana Bonganini Zuma-Mncube has filed criminal charges against her half-sister Duduzile Zuma Sambudla and two others at Sandton Police Station, alleging they orchestrated a scheme that deceived 17 South African men into traveling to Russia before delivering them to mercenary forces fighting in Ukraine. The complaint names Siphokazi Xuma and Blessing Khoza alongside the Member of Parliament, accusing the trio of violating trafficking laws and foreign military assistance statutes through false employment promises that trapped victims aged between 20 and 39 in the Donbas conflict zone.

Eight relatives of the former president's eldest daughter were among those recruited from KwaZulu-Natal under the pretenses of legitimate work or training programs. Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed authorities opened an inquiry docket to investigate claims that confiscated passports and coercion prevented the men from returning home, with some sustaining injuries or dying in combat.

The allegations expose bitter divisions within the Zuma family while highlighting recruitment scams targeting unemployed youth with offers exceeding typical South African wages, prompting government warnings about illegal participation in foreign conflicts.
