Tanzania plans major railway infrastructure expansion to capitalize on its position linking East and Southern African trade routes. President Samia Suluhu Hassan told Parliament that authorities will complete Standard Gauge Railway segments connecting Makutupora to Tabora, extending through Isaka to Mwanza and Kigoma, plus a line reaching Burundi via Uvinza and Musongati. Additional construction will link Tanga with Musoma and Mtwara with Mbamba Bay while extending service to Mchuchuma and Liganga mining areas.
