Mnangagwa blasts Parliament over delays
President Mnangagwa pressed lawmakers on Tuesday to accelerate approval of pending legislation at the opening of Parliament's third session in Mount Hampden. He criticized delays affecting nine bills from earlier sessions and six additional measures never submitted for debate. The backlog hinders government operations since statutes encode public priorities and guide executive action, the president told the assembly. Mnangagwa announced fresh proposals for the current term that address productivity standards, research funding and disaster response. Parliament will consider updates to competition rules, commercial lease regulations and intellectual property protections. Transport sector reforms and bills supporting devolution goals also...

Zimbabwe plans to launch Africa's first lithium sulfate facility in January as part of a 400 million dollar project that transforms raw minerals into battery components. Information Minister Jenfan Muswere told reporters after a cabinet session on Tuesday that Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe will operate three production lines at the Goromonzi site. The initial line starts operations next month, with the remaining units beginning in April. The plant will process 1.5 million tonnes of concentrate annually to produce 80,000 tonnes of lithium sulfate for electric vehicle batteries and manufacturing applications. Officials expect the facility to employ more than 1,000 workers and generate 320 million dollars in yearly sales. The investment...
Garikai owners to get title deeds
Zimbabwe will grant property titles to residents who received government-built homes after cabinet ministers approved a payment framework on Tuesday. Information Minister Jenfan Muswere said families in the Garikai/Hlalani Kuhle housing program must cover the full development costs under the User Pays Principle. Costs include land value, infrastructure installation and related charges for units constructed on private indigenous holdings and state parcels. Officials will broker agreements between property owners and home recipients to arrange installment purchases over negotiated timeframes. Muswere noted the titles will increase asset worth for program participants who settle their accounts.
Zimbabwe hits record wheat harvest
Zimbabwe harvested 578,059 tonnes of wheat this season, setting a national record and eliminating import dependence. Agriculture Minister Anxious Masuka announced the figure exceeds the country's 360,000-tonne annual need and positions the nation among two African states achieving wheat independence. The harvest came from 110,543 hectares with another 12,023 hectares awaiting completion by early November. Production jumped 511 percent since 2019, when farmers gathered 94,685 tonnes. The government seeks regional export markets for surplus grain while some mills will continue buying specialty high-gluten varieties unavailable from domestic sources. The Grain Marketing Board delivered more than 6,518 tonnes to processors in recent weeks...

Leeroy Mubaiwa, 17, watched as she entered the well hours later. Officers at ZRP Dorowa learned the death followed weeks of similar behavior. Investigators said Mubaiwa had struggled with thoughts of self-harm since early in the month. A post-mortem was conducted at Murambinda Mission Hospital. Assistant Inspector Wiseman...

Court rips apart Buyanga fraud web
A High Court judge voided property transactions tied to businessman Frank Buyanga after finding he used forged papers to steal real estate. Justice Gladys Mhuri ordered ownership of Stand 1860 Marlborough Township returned to Sagnol International following a scheme that began with an illegal loan in 2008. David Muchinguri borrowed $20,000 from Zimcor Trustees, an unregistered lender, then created a fake sale of company shares to hide the arrangement. Buyanga exploited that sham contract to manufacture documents and transfer the property to Cont River Investment. Mhuri rejected arguments that time limits barred the case, saying fraud remains a legal nullity regardless of when victims discover it. The Registrar of Deeds must reverse the...
Nephew terror accused in Harare feud
A Harare magistrate granted a protection order to a woman facing violence from her nephew over their family home. Theresa Maringambire accused Lianda Mairosi of vandalism, physical attacks, and daily harassment as he pressed claims to the property after his father died. Magistrate Ashton Dube affirmed her right to remain in the residence where she has spent most of her life. Mairosi told the court that custom dictates that male relatives inherit family assets and that women should live with their husbands. He offered no proof for his counter-accusations of mistreatment. Maringambire testified that her nephew destroyed windows and furniture while calling her a witch to neighbors. The magistrate condemned the use of force and property...
