High Court rejects Machacha's bid to enforce Labour ruling
The High Court rejected a bid by former Health Ministry official Lloyd Machacha to enforce a Labour Court ruling that declared his dismissal unlawful. Justice Joel Mambara said the court could not hear the case because Machacha failed to use enforcement procedures outlined in the Labour Act. The Labour Court ordered Machacha's reinstatement with benefits or damages after finding his termination violated employment law. Machacha claimed the Health Service Commission and its eight members ignored the order, leading him to seek High Court intervention. The commission argued the High Court lacked authority over the dispute. Justice Mambara agreed and noted the Labour Act permits registration of judgments with magistrates or the High Court...
Nyagacity Farm sets record with 25 piglets born
A Chegutu pig farm set a national record after a sow delivered 25 piglets in a single litter. Letwin Nyagano and her husband, Joel, imported the large white sow from Danbred in South Africa, and the delivery marked the highest count ever documented in Zimbabwe. The two-and-a-half-year-old sow had produced fewer than 12 piglets in her first two litters before the record birth. Nyagacity Farm operates on one hectare in Ward 15 of Norton, where the couple has raised pigs for 15 years and trains farmers from across southern Africa. Letwin Now credited pure breeds for superior herd expansion and meat output. The Government encourages farmers to invest in exotic breeds and crossbreed them with local stock to improve disease resistance and...
Tonderai Maphosa turns addiction past into hope for others
A Harare man who battled drug addiction for 15 years has dedicated his life to helping others avoid substance abuse. Tonderai Maphosa began drinking at age 21 while attending Selous University, which led to marijuana use and eventually crystal meth addiction. Maphosa broke into a university computer lab where his father worked to steal equipment for drug money, landing him in jail. His addiction prevented him from being a proper father to his children, with one child calling him merely a sperm donor. He quit drugs in December 2021 and credits his faith-based upbringing in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for guiding his recovery. Maphosa leads workshops and community meetings to warn people about the risks of addiction and the...

China called on Western nations to remove sanctions against Zimbabwe, describing the measures as illegal acts that harm the country's economic development and violate its sovereignty. He said the sanctions hurt Zimbabwe's development rights and damage regional cooperation efforts across Southern Africa. Guo said China stands with Zimbabwe in marking SADC Anti-Sanctions Day, established by the 39th SADC Summit for October 25. Beijing pledged to help African nations pursue peace, stability and prosperity while defending Zimbabwe's...

Banda entered his tenant's room at House Number 1953 Mbizo and ordered Moyo to leave immediately. Witnesses reported that Banda shouted threats to physically remove Moyo from the property. A physical struggle began when Banda forced his way into the room, and Moyo stabbed him once in the chest with a knife. Moyo told the court he mistook Banda for an intruder and acted out of fear and confusion. He said he simply pushed an unknown person from his room and...
