Lions Quest warns Zomba students on mental health
Lions Quest, part of the Lions Club in Zomba, urged secondary school students to pay attention to mental health concerns affecting youth. Lion Chipo Jamu, chairperson of Lions Quest in Zomba, spoke at St Mary’s Girls Secondary School during a gathering with students from St Mary’s, Mulunguzi, Malosa, Malindi, and Masongola schools. Jamu explained that many young people take their lives because of mental health struggles, making it vital to teach students about the causes and ways to cope. She said these talks help learners build skills to manage their own stress and support peers. Lions Quest Clubs already operate at Malindi and Mulunguzi schools. Psychotherapist Wisdom Chembe from Zomba Mental Hospital added that such efforts support...

Alfred Nkhoma, 47, received a four-year prison term with hard labor from the Nkhotakota Second Grade Magistrate Court after stealing items worth K540,000. He took a tire, a car jack, and vehicle papers from Lameck Chibuli in August 2025. Nkhoma first bought a tire from Chibuli for K140,000 in the Phangwa area. Magistrate Stonald Nthala said the sentence should discourage others from theft.

Man United eyes Gallagher in winter window
Manchester United plans to bring in Conor Gallagher in the winter transfer window. The English midfielder wants to return home, and Atletico Madrid may let him go. United sees Gallagher as a strong, energetic addition to its midfield. His skills could fill the gap left by Kobe Mainoo’s reduced role. The club tried to sign him on loan last summer, but Atletico said no. Now, Atletico faces a hard choice. Though Gallagher rarely starts for coach Diego Simeone, his versatility and team value make the club cautious. It will likely wait for a strong offer before agreeing to a deal. A loan with an option to buy may be the path both sides take. Gallagher favors a return to England to boost his form and earn a spot in the national team. His...
Gonzalo Garcia draws Premier League interest
Young Spanish striker Gonzalo Garcia may leave Real Madrid in the winter transfer window. English clubs have shown strong interest because he plays little under coach Xabi Alonso. Aston Villa, Fulham, and West Ham United all want him. Villa leads the race and may offer twenty million euros. They see him as a possible replacement for Ollie Watkins. Fulham and West Ham also seek attacking help after struggling to score this season. Real Madrid would rather loan him out than sell him. The club hopes he gains experience and returns stronger later. Garcia now faces a key choice: stay with the royal club or move to England for regular game time.

Flick banned for Clasico after appeal fails
The Appeals Committee of the Spanish Football Federation upheld Hans Flick’s one-match ban. Barcelona had appealed the suspension, but the committee rejected the request, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. Flick received two yellow cards near the end of the match against Girona. The first came in the 90th minute for clapping in protest. The second followed right after for a gesture of disagreement. Two yellows led to an automatic one-game suspension. The committee backed referee Jesus Gil Manzano’s report under Article 27 of the disciplinary code, which makes on-field calls final unless a clear error exists. Video evidence from Barcelona did not change the outcome. Barcelona may still ask the Court of Arbitration for Sport for a...
