Islamic Jihad backs Hamas Gaza peace deal hopes
Palestinian Islamic Jihad endorsed Hamas's response to a US peace proposal on Saturday, potentially advancing hostage release negotiations between the militant groups and Israel. The Iran-backed faction stated it participated in consultations leading to Hamas's decision to accept key elements of President Donald Trump's plan, which addresses ending the conflict, Israeli withdrawal, and prisoner exchanges. Hamas accepted portions of the 20-point proposal on Friday after Trump set a Sunday deadline with warnings of severe consequences for rejection. Netanyahu's office announced preparations for implementing the first phase focused on hostage releases, but domestic pressures complicate his position. The prime minister faces demands from...
Flick refuses to promise Yamal return for Clasico
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick expressed uncertainty on Saturday about when Lamine Yamal might return from a groin injury, contradicting the club's earlier two-to-three week timeline. The 18-year-old winger will miss Spain's World Cup qualifiers and faces an unclear recovery path before the Oct. 26 Clasico against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu. Flick explained that groin injuries differ from muscle strains and require careful load management through the recovery team's step-by-step approach. Yamal initially hurt his groin while playing for Spain in September, missed four matches, but returned last week before aggravating the injury against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday. Flick defended his earlier criticism of Spain coach Luis de...
