A passenger bus overturned inside the Karnaphuli Tunnel in Chattogram on Saturday afternoon and left at least 15 people injured. The vehicle lost control while entering from the Patenga side around 1:35 p.m. and flipped on its route from Patenga to Anwara, according to Golam Samdani Himel, the assistant engineer for toll and traffic at the tunnel. Tunnel security vehicles and ambulances transported the wounded to area hospitals, but officials said no injuries appeared life-threatening.
Witness Saiful Islam described seeing the bus sway and strike the tunnel wall before overturning as passengers screamed. Authorities temporarily stopped traffic on one side of the tunnel, but movement resumed after the damaged vehicle was removed by crews.
