Police send Bobi Wine crying from Iganga to Bugiri
Opposition candidate Robert Kyagulanyi campaigned in Namayingo and Bugiri on Saturday after police prevented his National Unity Platform rally in Iganga Municipality. The politician accused security forces and the Electoral Commission of bias against his 2026 presidential campaign. Kyagulanyi said authorities blocked roads to Iganga despite allowing other candidates to campaign there. Police spokesperson Diana Nandawula said the convoy deviated from approved routes and created security risks. She stated officers directed the group toward Namungale Grounds where clearance existed. Kyagulanyi pledged to continue peaceful campaigning despite what he called deliberate harassment by authorities.

NUP's Eddie Mutwe rots in jail on judge's whim
A Kampala court rejected bail for 10 National Unity Platform members facing unlawful drilling charges on Friday. Chief Magistrate Damalie Agumasiimwe ruled via Zoom that the accused failed to prove they would follow bail terms or avoid interfering with investigations. The defendants consist of party officials and bodyguards for opposition leader Bobi Wine. Joel Ssenyonyi, the opposition leader in Parliament, called the decision political persecution. He challenged the prosecution's claim that suspects might tamper with witnesses at party headquarters. Ssenyonyi also contested the court's concerns about surety ages, noting Uganda removed presidential age limits. The legal team plans to appeal while the group remains in custody.

Combs was convicted in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges. President Donald Trump discussed the case in a July 2 interview with Newsmax, describing Combs as sort of half-innocent after the mixed verdict. Trump noted that Combs made hostile statements about him after his 2016 campaign, which would complicate any pardon consideration. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian imposed a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release, in addition to the prison term. Combs apologized tearfully at his sentencing hearing to victims...

Ben Bajarin calls Intel the ugly date for a tech apocalypse
Analyst Ben Bajarin describes Intel as insurance for American chip companies against geopolitical risks tied to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). Apple, AMD, Nvidia, and Qualcomm rely on TSMC for advanced semiconductors, but Intel serves as the only American alternative in case supply chains face disruption. Taiwan produces more than 90 percent of the world's cutting-edge chips, and TSMC controls a major share of that output. TSMC plans to expand American production by moving 2-nanometer processes ahead of schedule, and the company has increased investments to $300 billion to establish the United States as a manufacturing hub. The shift from Asian to Western production requires years of work, and the government wants...
