Zimbabwe Cracks Down on Smuggling with New Rules.
Zimbabwe is taking strong action against smuggling. The government has named 19 types of goods that will be treated as smuggled. This happens if importers cannot show proof they paid duty.
The goods include alcohol, soda, cement, clothes, shoes, and dairy items. Diapers, appliances, meat, rice, pasta, and sugar are also on the list. Tires, car parts, detergents, biscuits, candy, and soap are also included.
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube announced the new rules yesterday. They start today. They are part of a larger effort to stop illegal imports.
