Gambia Announces 2025 Hajj Plans, Awards Tender to GIA.
BIJILO, Gambia - Gambia is getting ready for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. Lands Minister Amat Bah gave an update on Monday.
Gambia International Airlines (GIA) won the tender to fly pilgrims. GIA partnered with Gewen Holdings & Airline Company of Abu Dhabi.
"The airfare will not go above last year's price," Minister Bah said. "Petrol prices have been stable."
The Hajj Commission, Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, and GIA checked the Dubai company. They said it could handle the flights.

Nuimi Chief Urges Park Protection.
ESSAU, Gambia - Chief George L. Sonko of Lower Nuimi wants the Niumi National Park protected. He says the forest must be preserved. The district will not allow illegal activities in the park.
Chief Sonko spoke to The Voice. He is worried about recent illegal logging. He says village leaders must stop selling parkland for homes and farms.
"My office will not compromise," Chief Sonko said. Illegal activities harm the environment and wildlife.
The chief also cares about livestock. People should not block cattle paths or start bushfires. He wants communities to protect plants and animals.
The Niumi district is committed to the park's well-being and will enforce the law to stop illegal activities.
North Bank Farmers Develop Annual Action Plan.
KEREWAN, Gambia - The North Bank Regional Agroecology Platform met on Tuesday. They worked on an annual action plan. Action Aid International-The Gambia and Njawara Agricultural Training Center helped organize the meeting.
The meeting, held at the ADWAC Conference Hall, updated stakeholders on the platform's progress over the past two years.
Masamba Joof is the Executive Director of ADWAC. He said the platform promotes the use of organic manure, which can reduce climate change effects and increase food production. Mr. Joof warned that GMO seeds can harm soil nutrients and people's health. He advised farmers to choose their seeds carefully.

Gambia Revokes Kamalo Land Allocations.
BANJUL, Gambia—The Gambian government has revoked all land allocations at the Kamalo Extension and canceled allocations at Kamalo Proper that lacked ministerial approval or proper documentation.
Lands Minister Hamat Bah announced these actions at a press conference on Monday. The government will formally notify affected individuals in writing.
A task force investigated the allocations. It recommended limiting individuals with multiple Kamalo Proper allocations to just one. The state will forfeit any extra allocations.
The government also revoked allocations to people who provided personal bank accounts instead of company accounts.

Three Women Arrested for Robbing and Raping Man in Harare
Police have arrested three women in Harare. They are accused of robbing and sexually assaulting a 20-year-old man from Mazowe.
The suspects are Diana Sibanda, 35, Brendy Msipa, 35, and Tabeth Harris, 33. They appeared in court on Wednesday. They face charges of aggravated indecent assault and robbery.
The magistrate ordered them to stay in jail until February 13. Police are still investigating the case.
Prosecutors say the victim was driving on Leopold Takawira Street on January 25. Sibanda allegedly forced her way into his car. She took his Samsung Note 20 Ultra phone.

A maid in Harare says her boss owes her two years of wages. Magumise Sherera claims Samuel Muchenjero refused to pay her. He said she was his wife and not an employee.
Muchenjero asked the court for a peace order against Sherera. He says she threatened to use witchcraft on him. "I am scared," he said. "That is why I need the court's help."
Sherera tells a different story. She says Muchenjero forced her into a sexual relationship. He promised her an allowance instead of a salary. But he never paid it.
"We lived as husband and wife for two years," Sherera said. "But he left me for another maid."
She claims Muchenjero was controlling and abusive. He would not even let her sleep properly...
Minister Mavetera Criticized for Controversial Song at Heroes Acre.
ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera is under fire. On Monday, she led a song some say insulted Acting President Chiwenga. It happened at the burial of Justin Mupamhanga at Heroes Acre.
Mavetera leads a group of Mnangagwa supporters called Young Women 4ED. She sang about "sellouts" belonging in a hole. Many think this was aimed at Chiwenga.
The General Chiwenga Voluntary Supporters Association (GCVSA) is angry. They called the song a "direct provocation" and "act of betrayal."
In a statement, GCVSA said Mavetera disrespected Heroes Acre. "It is sacred ground for our fallen heroes," they wrote. "Not a place for political games."

Student Teacher Found Dead at Guinea Fowl High School.
Keener Tsanana, 21, was found dead in a room at Guinea Fowl High School. She was a student teacher there.
Police say Tsanana was last seen on Saturday with her boyfriend, Valentine Tamuka Zivera, 27. They want to talk to Zivera about the death.
Tsanana's body was found on January 25 around 8 p.m. She had a swollen forehead and bruises on her body.
"A security guard at the school, Simbarashe Dzimba, told the police," said Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
Police learned that Tsanana and Zivera were seen entering the school together on January 24. Zivera is a student at Hillside Teachers College in Bulawayo.

CCC Faction Led by Tshabangu Plans Party Congress.
A faction of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) says it will hold a party congress soon. Sengezo Tshabangu leads the faction. He calls himself the interim secretary-general.
Mbuso Siso works closely with Tshabangu. He said court cases have delayed setting a date for the congress. The cases are between Tshabangu and Welshman Ncube, the acting CCC leader.
Siso said they are getting ready for the congress. "We are meeting people across the country," he said. "We want to see our support at the grassroots level."
