ESSAU, Gambia - Chief George L. Sonko of Lower Nuimi wants the Niumi National Park protected. He says the forest must be preserved. The district will not allow illegal activities in the park.

"My office will not compromise," Chief Sonko said. Illegal activities harm the environment and wildlife.
